Uribe, living in northern Mexico, said more than two years of steady dieting has helped him drop about 249kg (550 pounds) from his Guinness record weight of about 560kg (1,235 pounds).
But Uribe is still unable to walk his fiancee, Claudia Solis, down the aisle.
"We are in love, and this year my birthday wish is to be able to stand when we get married," he said.

"It frustrates me a little, because it is not easy to get out," said Uribe, who has not been able to leave bed for the last six years.
Uribe met Solis, a 38-year-old hairdresser, four years ago. They have been together for the last two.
Uribe said his weight problem resulted from a nonstop diet of junk food and soft drinks.
"It is all because of the junk food," he said.
